This team is in honor of our angel babies, Hope and Augustus Kuennen...
No one ever thinks that they will need the services provided by IRIS - an organization dedicated to providing support after the loss of an infant. But our reality is that we do not know where we would be today without the amazing and compassionate people at IRIS.
OUR DAUGHTER HOPE - was born on Dec. 27, 2005, at 22 weeks. She weighed 1 pound 8 ounces, and was nearly 12 inches long. Although she was so very, very small and to young to survive - she was beautiful, perfect, and peaceful. Hope taught us how precious life really is.
OUR SON AUGUSTUS MICHAEL was born 11 months later on Nov. 24, 2006. Gus was born still. He was full-term and a big baby boy, weighing 8 pounds 4 ounces, and 22 inches long. Gus looked just like his daddy - and was perfect in everyway. I felt Gus kick for the last time at 7 am on Thanksgiving morning, and later that night we discovered that his heart stop beating. There still are no words...
Hope and Gus will forever be part of us, and we miss them very much. Not a day goes by that we don't think of them - and now we have the opportunity to walk and raise money for IRIS in honor of our babies. We want to give back and do what we can to ensure that IRIS is available to other people like us. We never thought we would need IRIS - but unfortunately, we did and still do.
Thank you for supporting us as we walk in honor of Hope and Augustus. Donating through this website is simple, fast, and secure - and hopefully a convenient way to support my fundraising efforts for such an important cause.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We walk so that others will never have to go through the devastation of losing their child alone. We walk to raise awareness of the important services that IRIS provides. We walk to remember. And we will carry each and every one of you in our hearts as we do this for Hope and Gus.
