For Preston Richard Meyer

My precious little one
I placed you lovingly in Jesus arms
to hold you and caress you
smother you with love and kisses
as would I.

When God asked me to commit
one of my sons to serve him
I proudly answered “yes”
not knowing or understanding
the nature of that call.

In my sorrow and deep agonizing pain
I see your precious face.
I remember you live within me.
I remember what a blessing that was to me.
I remember holding you and smelling your sweetness.
I remember stroking you until your last breath.

As I watched life leave you
I saw an angelic peace descend upon you.

Dear Preston my precious baby boy
I love you so.
I pray that through Jesus gentle lovingness
you will ascent into Heaven
with angel wings.
