IRIS Announces 'Memorial Water Lanterns' to Be Held in Faribault

In honor of Infants Remembered In Silence, Inc. (IRIS) 25th anniversary, the nonprofit will be holding 25 events for those remembering a child who has passed away.

"Some of the events are open to the public including this one." Said Diana Sundwall, IRIS Executive Director. "We will be hosting a Memorial Water Lantern event on Lower Lyman Lake on the Carleton College Campus in Northfield, MN this Saturday, July 14." Those attending will be floating decorated, candle light lanterns on the lake. The Lanterns can be purchased on the IRIS website (www.irisRemembers.com) with a limited number being available for purchase at the event while supplies last.


Decorating your Memorial Water Lanterns:

- Decorating of lanterns will be held from 4 - 8 pm on Saturday at Lower Lyman Lake.
- You are welcome to be as creative with your Water Lantern! You will have four (4) side of your Lantern to decorate. You can include personal messages, poems, pictures, rub-ons, fresh flowers or anything else that will show up when the candle is lit.
- IRIS will provide markers for you to decorate your lantern. You are welcome to bring other embellishments and decorations. Lanterns will be floating on the water, it is important to keep the decorations and embellishments light weight and water proof.
Picnic:

Those wish are welcome to bring their own picnic dinner to enjoy on the banks of the lake from 4 to 8 p.m.
Memorial Water Lantern Launching:

Lantern Launching will begin at 8:30 p.m. (at sunset) and will go until the lanterns extinguish themselves.

IRIS was founded in 1987, is a 501c3 Non-profit organization based in Faribault, and offers parents, family, friends, and professionals support, education, and resources on the death of a child during all stages of pregnancy, from stillbirth, premature birth, neo-natal death, sudden infant death (SIDS), birth defects, illness, accidents, and all other types of infant and early childhood death.
