Preston’s Lullaby

Our precious little one, your long journey is done
You may now life on peaceful sleeping
Child, we love you so, but we must let you go
And entrust you in God’s keeping.

Although it breaks our hearts, it is time to part
As we ask that God’s strength be given.
But child, don’t be afraid, in God’s hands you’ll be laid,
Until the day that we hold you in Heaven.

This is our last embrace, as we look upon your face
Your tiny fingers and voice quietly resting.
It’s time to say good-bye, now go to God on high
You are our sacrifice made with His blessing.

And though it breaks our heart, it is time to depart
As we ask God’s strength be given.
My child don’t be afraid,
Because in God’s hands you’ve been laid.
Until the day that we hold you in Heaven.

Preston Richard Meyer, son of Rich and Kathie Meyer, was born and died on May 6, 1997, due to volvulus in utero.
