Diana Sundwall
From the loss of her son, Diana Sundwall gained a family.
Sundwall, the founder and executive director of Infants Remembered in Silence, has helped right upended families who lost children during pregnancy or infancy.
"In her gentle way, she helped both my husband and I through our darkest times and helped us accept our new normal," said nominator Deanna Kuennen. "We do not know where we would be without Diana, and we are only one family that has had our lives touched by her."
Sundwall founded IRIS more than two decades ago after the death of her stillborn son, Derek. She's combined that experience with compassion to help families mourn.
"She has helped hundreds and hundreds of people, never seeking recognition or accolades. But she deserves recognition and accolades," Kuennen said.
