Ava's life was full of surprises. She surprised us by unexpectedly arriving at 24 weeks gestation, in what was otherwise an uneventful pregnancy. She surprised the doctors by doing so well, much better than they predicted, and surprised everyone when a routine brain scan after being 3 days old showed dire results. A massive grade four intraventricular hemorrhage covering the entire right side of her brain as well as part of her left. Ava was born April 13, 2012 and peacefully passed away April 17, 2012. A life so brief, a child so small; you had the power to touch us all.
