For Matthew
By Keith Bishop

It was the hardest blow that anyone could give,
Finding out you were dead before beginning to live.

And although we know it is all in God’s will,
It was so hard to see you so quiet and still.

We held you awhile and said our goodbyes,
Our sweet little angel who never opened his eyes.

Although we may never know why you are gone,
Your memory in our hearts will always live on.

Accept, yes, we must. Forget, no, we’ll never.
We love you, dear Matthew, and love lasts forever.

Matthew is the son of Karen and Keith Bishop. He was almost full term when he suffered hypoxia with multiple hemorrhages and was stillborn October 27, 1996. The Bishops also have a daughter, Stephanie, who is three years old.
