When is the Turkey Trot?
The Turkey Trot is held on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2019 at the Faribault Middle School. Please see the main page for check in and race times.
Where does the money raised go?
100% of the proceeds raised fund Infants Remembered In Silence, Inc. (IRIS) a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping those who have experienced the loss of a child.
Can I participate in this event if I am not an IRIS parent or have never lost a child?
Definitely! The Turkey Trot is open for everyone to participate in. The goal is to increase awareness of the incredible support services and educational resources that IRIS provides to families who experience the loss of a child in early pregnancy (miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, etc) or from premature birth, stillbirth, neo-natal death, birth defects, SUID/SIDS, accident, illness and all other types of infant and early childhood death. For their good deed, Participants are granted permission by our mascot "Trot" to have an extra serving of potatoes and a second piece of pie at their Thanksgiving meal.
Will the event take place indoors or outdoors?
Both! Registration will be held inside the Faribault Middle School Gymnasium (704 17th St. SW, Faribault, MN). All events will be outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather! Refreshments for paid participants will be served in the gym following the 5K/10K events.
Will the event take place if it's raining, cold, icky, snowing, sleeting, blowing, you know... if it's winter?
Youbetcha! (that would be a "Yes" for you non-Minnesotans)
Can I purchase additional t-shirts?
Yes. Additional t-shirts can be purchased online prior to 11:59 PM on November 14, 2019. Registrations placed after this time WILL NOT receive a shirt! A limited number of t-shirts will be available for sale the day of the Turkey Trot.

Can I make my own shirt, sweatshirt, hat, scarf or costume to honor my child or loved one to wear on the day of the event?
Yes! People are encouraged to be creative and decorate shirts to designate their "team".
Treadway Graphics has agreed to assist you in creating personalized items and will donate 100% of the proceeds of your orders to IRIS. To order personalized items, please complete this form. Treadway Graphics will contact you.

Registration Questions

Do I have to register online?
No. You can download the registration form here, and mail with a check to:

Please remember: To be guaranteed a t-shirt, all pre-registrations must be received by November 14, 2019 (payment must be included)! Registrations received after this date will NOT get a t-shirt, but t-shirts may be available for purchase at the event while supplies last.

How do I register?
Click here and fill out the form for each person you would like to register. Click the "Checkout" button and finish the payment process to complete your registrations. You will receive a confirmation email when you've successfully registered.
Can I register more than one person at a time and pay for everyone?
Yes. When you have completed the registration for everyone your shopping cart will contain the registration fees for everyone you have registered. Complete the payment process to finalize your registrations.
What method of payment can I use to pay for the event?
If you register online you must use a debit/credit card. If you mail in a registration you can pay with debit/credit card or check. If you come into the IRIS office to register you can use debit/credit card, check or cash.

Team Questions

Do I have to form a "team" page if I register to participate in the event?
No, creating or joining a team is optional. However, the team page feature is a great way for you to share your own personal story of why you are participating in the IRIS Turkey Trot. It is also an easy way to get sponsorship and donations from friends, family, or anyone interested in supporting IRIS. Your personal donations and registration fees of team members will be tracked on your team page, as well as notes of encouragement.
Can I join a team, switch to a different team, or create my own team after I have already registered?
Yes. There are buttons on the team page that can be used to join a team. The email address entered when registering will be used to validate team changes. Follow the instructions in the email for more details.
Can I be on more than one team?
No, you can only be on one team but you can pledge to more than one team.
How can I find out who is on a team?
On the Home Page click on "Teams". Open up the Team to see participants.
Can I pledge to a Participant or Team online?
Yes. Click here and find the team that you wish to pledge to, then click on the "Donate" button on their page. Fill out the form and complete the payment process and your donation and message will show up on the team's page. You are welcome to pledge/donate to as many teams as you'd like.
Support a Team
Can I turn in "Team Pledges" at the Turkey Trot?
Yes, but only pledges received during the Early Check-In on 27 will be eligible for the team prize. Please place your "Team Pledges" in an envelope marked "Team Pledges". Take the marked envelope to the Same Day Registration Table and give to the Cashier. Please make sure you list the Team Name, Your Name, and the names and amount of all those who pledged. This information is needed to update your Team Page.
Are there rewards for creating a team?
A prize basket will be awarded to the top fundraising team. Funds must be received by 6:30 PM on November 27, 2019 to be eligible.
I would like to make a donation in memory of a loved one but they do not have a team page. How can I do this?
Go to the Team Pages and click on the Team called "All Those We Lovingly Remember" to make your donation. In the Message for Team area Leave a comment that includes the name of the Child/Adult being remembered and the dates if known. IE: In Loving Memory of my grandchild Mary or in memory of Mary 1900-2000.

Event Questions

Are there other activities planned before or during the Trot?
  • The Turkey Trot mascot, "Trot", will be available for pictures
  • There will be a memorial area where you can create special memorial keepsakes. You are encouraged to take these keepsakes home with you after the event.
  • Look for the Fun Photo Station
  • You will still be home in time for Thanksgiving lunch
Are strollers and pets allowed?
Strollers and well-behaved pets will be allowed. Pets are not allowed inside the building and please remember that all city ordinances still apply (leash and clean-up laws, etc.). We encourage you to bring your entire 2-legged and 4-legged family, regardless of their age, to participate in this event. Please make sure everyone is dressed for the weather.
Runners with pets will be lined up between the 5K Run and the 5K walk. Please be courteous to other participants.
Will food be provided?
Yes, snacks and beverages will be handed out in the gymnasium to paid participants only. You must have your Event/Race bib for admittance. Remember to leave room for your extra serving of potatoes and pie.
Where do we park?
Parking is available in area parking lots and on the street.
When can I check-in and pick up my registration packet and shirt?
Participant Check-in, packet pickup, and shirt pick up can be done on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, between 4:00 and 6:30 PM at the Faribault Middle School OR Thanksgiving Morning, November 28, 2019 from 7:00 – 8:00 AM. Extra shirts, hats, etc. can be purchased at this time and the Memorial Area will be open!
Can we pick up our Turkey Trot shirts and goodie bags early?
Yes you can! Early Check-in will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at the Faribault Middle School from 4:00 - 6:30 PM. Extra shirts, hats, etc. can be purchased at this time and the Memorial Area will be open!
Can someone else check me in and pick up my materials?
Yes, however, we do not keep track of who that person is and we will not issue replacement shirts.
Will the run be timed?
Yes, the 5K Run and 10K Run events will be chip timed. There will be a running clock at the finish line. Chip timed race results will be available inside the gym at the results kiosk.
Are prizes awarded for winners?
Yes, there are prizes for the 5K Run and 10K Run events. Prizes will be awarded to the overall women's and men's winners and to the first place finishers in each age bracket. Please come inside the gym to collect your prize!
What is a Virtual Walk/Run?
The Virtual Turkey Trot is like our traditional event with several exceptions:
  • You participate whenever you want around Thanksgiving!
  • You walk, run, hike, bike, use your treadmill, etc. wherever you are. In Guam for Thanksgiving? No problem, you can still join in the fun!
  • Post or email us your photos and tell us where you participated: trot@irisRemembers.com
  • Following the Turkey Trot you can stop into the IRIS office to pick up your shirt, you can donate your shirt, or make arrangements to have your shirt mailed to you.
Can we submit pictures of our Virtual Walk/Run?
Yes, we would love to see pictures! Email them to trot@irisRemembers.com and we will post them on the Infants Remembered in Silence Facebook page.
