In 2012, Nick and I lost two pregnancies far too early and while we didn't get to hold our babies or even share the news that we were expecting, we felt the heartbreak of sending a baby to heaven far too soon. IRIS helped me though this tough time and I've been running the Turkey Trot for 8 years this year. Please help me support this amazing organization, so that they can continue to help others with the loss of a child. 

When I think about our angel babies in heaven, I picture them to be chubby cherubs, flying near God, being of service and waiting patiently for me to arrive. When my three young kids ask me for something, I sometimes say 'yes, my cherub.. ' and they recently asked me what that means. When I explained a cherub as a baby angel in heaven, my son just lit up as if it were a compliment. (becuase, well, it is!) So this year, I am naming my trot team Laura's Cherubs. 

I'm planning to run the virtual race this year for the first time. I chose this for two reasons. One reason is because I'm working on the IRIS Turkey Trot committee for the first time this year and will be helping out at the live event. Secondly, last year, I fell in love with running on the Straight River Trail. I plan to take a morning to run the race virutally and will enjoy that time spent with my angels.
